Studio
Honouring existing fabrics.
Sculpting them into garments beyond trend.
Hey, I’m Rutger — welcome to my studio.
Swirski Studio is an independent design practice focused on constructing garments from reclaimed materials.
After travelling through Southeast Asia and witnessing the scale of waste created by the fashion industry, I began collecting discarded clothing and fabrics and experimenting with ways to transform them into new garments.
My work explores form, structure, and function — treating clothing as a physical object rather than a disposable product.
Every piece is designed and handmade in my studio in Germany.
Process
Each piece follows a simple set of principles.
- — Reclaimed and deadstock materials
- — One-off pieces and small runs
- — Handmade construction
- — Original pattern development
- — Material-led design
- — No seasonal collections
