Pleated Reconstruction Jacket is a one-off jacket built from reclaimed garments, primarily denim and wool, with additional knit materials used throughout the interior. Rather than treating the old garments simply as a source of fabric, their differences in colour, weight, wear and texture are left visible. Individual pieces are assembled into larger patchworked panels using exposed zig-zag stitching, raw edges and contrasting thread, creating a surface that records how the jacket was constructed. The pattern was developed around a wide, cropped silhouette with dropped shoulders and generous sleeves. At the back, a shaped yoke releases additional fabric into deep pleats, giving the body volume while allowing it to collapse and change shape when worn. The front remains comparatively simple, centred around a metal zip and oversized wool collar. The interior continues the reconstruction rather than hiding it. Denim facings sit alongside panels of reclaimed grey and brown knitwear, while flashes of red patterned fabric appear inside the sleeves and pockets. Construction, reinforcement and material transitions remain visible throughout. Made as an experiment in turning damaged and unwanted clothing into a completely new garment, the jacket combines workwear materials with sculptural pattern cutting and deliberately exposed assembly. One of one. Made from reclaimed garments.
Pieces from the same category that sit in the same world.
